They require an aquarium with a deep substrate bottom and water shallow
enough for the turtle to reach the surface with it's snout. They also need
a "basking" area where they can climb completly out of the water and dry
out. This is created by stacking stones on one side of the aquarium for
them to climb up on. They will eat any turtle food sold in pet stores,
small fish (guppies) and goldfish (as they get larger).

The red ear slider is an aquatic turtle living most of its
life underwater, occasionally coming to the top for a gulp of air and then
darting back to the bottom of the tank. They need to be provided a place
to crawl out of the water to 'bask', and the proper lighting . They will
eat any prepared food available in pet stores for 'Aquatic Turtles' and
as it grows larger will take feeder guppies and goldfish.
